The 2012 International Exposition was held in Yeosu, South Korea. The theme “Coast and Oceans living” recalled the preservation of the marine environment and sustainable development. In the Italian pavilion, audio and video technologies played a leading role. AV Set designed the exhibition spaces and contents, creating the hardware and software infrastructure for audio/video editing. The result is a space of 1,600 squaremeters divided into different thematic areas, with an auditorium for meetings and shows. Among the peculiarities of the multimedia set-up realized by AV Set, three touchscreen monitors in the area of the Great Navigators, where it is possible to know the deeds of Columbus, Vespucci and Pigafetta by clicking on the desired character, and see their history and itineraries through photos and documents. A Helio Display (a system that uses ionized water as a video projection screen) allows a “phantom” Christopher Columbus to welcome us into the Teatro degli Ammiragli. Another feature is the pavilion restaurant, where ten ceiling-mounted monitors offer visitors the best dishes of Italian cuisine.
